Latvia - 90

The proclamation of Latvia was exactly 90 years ago. There have been good and bad times. We have been occupied by Nazi Germany and USSR that damaged our economy heavily. But still we have managed to survive and we’re still here. Freedom isn’t free, and mostly it’s paid with blood, thank you all who have made this country and stud by it in hard times. Long live Latvia !

Economic Crisis and Affiliate Marketing

Most of all you know that world is now going trough a pretty big economic crisis. Some countries including Iceland is near bankruptcy. Some companies such as Yahoo is near bankruptcy. Some countries feel it more, some countries less. Is economic crisis affecting the average affiliate marketer ?

My income during the last 2 months haven’t reduced, actually it has only grown, but then again in some niches people do buy less. Some of my travel niche campaigns aren’t doing well, I can barely keep even. Also this maybe isn’t the time when people want to travel, but Christmas holidays are coming and that’s the time when people travel, so I guess that’s when I will see the correct situation in this niche. Other my niches are doing +/- the same.

You just have to remember that during economic crisis people just act differently, they maybe don’t spend less money on things, they just spend the same amount of money on other things. If you know how consumers act in hard economic times, then you’re a winner ! Oh, and actually I am quite happy at the moment, gas prices have dropped, and USD is going up. If few months ago 1USD was 0.45 LVL (Latvian Lats), then now it is 0.56 for 1 Latvian Lat.

How about you ? Is economic crisis affecting your online income ?

How to handle your parents

Checking forums, other blogs I see that more and more teens are getting into making money online things. Such as affiliate marketing, web site flipping, blogging or any other profitable activity online. But there comes a time when your parents just can’t understand from where do you receive money. This was a major problem for me as well. My parents never understood that you can actually make money online without scamming anyone. Well believe it or not - it’s true, but still they could not understand it. At first they thought that I’m selling my pictures to adult websites, weird huh ? So, they actually kept thinking that I am doing some scamming, and I think they were ready that someday a SWAT team is going to rush in my room and I will spend rest of my life behind the bars.

After many conversations they still couldn’t understand what the hell I’m talking about (affiliate marketing), well, I got really sick of it, and I just showed them what I do. One saturday’s morning I asked them to sit together with me at the PC, and I showed them everything what I do, I hope my mom won’t get into affiliate marketing, because I showed my parents almost all my most profitable niches (don’t need any competition). So anyway, after a 5hour long session they got somekind of idea what I am doing, but still I think they don’t understand it, the main point is that they know that I am not doing any “nigerian scams”, or hacking bank accounts and it’s all legitimate

BidVertiser is now running on the blog.

For a bit of a time I have been searching for some ad networks to monetize this blog. The biggest problem is that this blog is still relatively small, and this means that many ad networks may just refuse to accept - need to start working on traffic !

Anyway, my mindless searches for an ad network have been finished for a time ! I found a great ad network - BidVertiser.

BidVertiser is something similar like Google AdSense. Only the biggest and best difference is that BidVertiser only needs a minimum of $10 to payout you the money, and they payout you via PayPal ! They work with the CPC ads. One thing that I really liked very much about this network is that managing and monitoring your ads is very, very simple. I signed up, and after 3 minutes I already had my ads on the blog, it’s really easy.

So if you’re looking for some alternate ways how to monetize your blog - use BidVertiser

PayPal and it’s policy

Everyone who has been dealing with making money online knows or has heard about PayPal. And when we hear “PayPal” we automatically think about the best and only money sending/receiving system online. But since PayPal is a monopoly sometimes we must encounter some really disappointing actions that don’t make any sense at all.

I have read that many people had or have problems with PayPal, and PayPal totally doesn’t even answer their complaints, limit their accounts, freeze their money and so on. I had a situation when I was just starting out with affiliate marketing, that PayPal froze my account for like 1 and a half month because of too big incoming funds than normally, we got clear, and everything is clear since then. PayPal sometimes just freezes your account without no real reason at all, rumors are that they hold the money on purpose and so on. But the average mortal human will never really know what’s happening there. I can only say that if PayPal would freeze my account it could hurt my online business really hard, because 80% of my cashflow goes via PayPal - I know I need to fix that.

Anyway enough with the crying and complaining, I will give you some easy and simple steps to avoid an unwanted f*ck in the butt by PayPal.

  • Always tell PayPal that your IP address can suddenly change if you’re out of the country. PayPal will start to look at you with a suspicious look if your IP that you log into your account will change to a different country’s IP suddenly.
  • Inform them if bigger incoming funds are planned. I do this all the time when I release a new product in a niche, for example if you everyday receive $100 into PayPal, and one day suddenly you have $50.000 incoming funds because of a product launch, PayPal can and probably will freeze your account and start an investigation. Always inform them that more funds than usually are planned and explain how and why you will receive the money.
  • Always inform them that you’re changing your physical address. If you will suddenly change your physical address PayPal may look suspicious at you as well, inform them that you have moved to another living spot and only then change it in your profile’s screen.
  • Avoid dealing on eBay with suspicious sellers. I have heard that PayPal can just freeze your account if you will buy a suspicious item from a suspicious seller. “Suspicious items” - cell phones, shoes, watches and other items that are easily to fake and scam.

These are one of the main reasons why PayPal freezes accounts, and of course, there are many unknown factors that can influence this. Oh and by the way, remember - PayPal is not a bank, so PayPal does not stay under the international and federal laws that all of the banks stand under.  For example if you have problems you can go to national or international institutions and complain that a Bank did not do something right. Well if PayPal did not do something right, guess what - nobody can’t do nothing about it, because PayPal is not a bank, the only way how you can complain is getting a lawyer and sue them - that’s all.

So be careful, and always inform PayPal if you have planned some changes or whatever.
